John Larsen graduated from the University of Iowa in 1959 with a bachelor degree in the Science of Commerce. He began his insurance career working for Central Mutual Ins. Co. from 1961 to 1970. During that time John completed the Insurance Institute of America in 1963. John received his Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation in 1970, the same year he purchased the Day Insurance Agency to form Day-Larsen Insurance Agency, Inc. In 2007, John sold the business to Alex, forming Day Larsen Pedersen Insurance (DLP Insurance). While John is still actively involved in the business operations, he is setting aside more time to work on his golf game.
